How to care for your bags?
First of all, if the stain is small or localized, don’t wash the entire bag right away. Try to remove the localized stain first. Use a damp cloth with a little mild soap. Don’t rub too hard to avoid damaging the fibers.
However, if you think your bag needs a complete refresh, check out the tips below on how to best and most safely wash your bag.
To ensure your crochet bag retains its beautiful appearance and shape for as long as possible, we recommend proper care:
1. Prepare your bag
Detach all possible elements from the bag, such as straps, handles, and keychains. Don’t leave anything inside the bag. If possible, turn the bag inside out.
2. What to use for washing?
Avoid strong, bleaching laundry detergents. It’s best to use a mild washing liquid (e.g., one intended for baby clothes or wool products).
3a. Hand washing
Fill a basin with lukewarm water (max. 30°C) and add a small amount of mild detergent. Submerge the bag and gently knead it — avoid intense rubbing, which could damage the fibers.
After washing, rinse the bag thoroughly in clean water. Then, gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring), shape it appropriately, and lay it flat to dry.
3b. Machine washing
If you have a laundry bag/mesh, place the bag inside it and put it in the washing machine. If you don’t have one, put unused towels, a large piece of cotton fabric, or sheets (light-colored/non-dyeing, of course) into the washing machine along with the bag. This will prevent the bag from hitting the drum walls. Straps and other detachable bag accessories must be placed in a laundry bag. If you don’t have one, wash these items by hand.
Set the washing machine to a hand wash program or another delicate wash program. Washing temperature 30°C (cold). Spin at low speed.
4. Time to dry
After removing the bag from the washing machine, give it the correct shape by gently forming and stretching it.
Do not tumble dry the bag. Dry flat, away from direct sunlight. Also, do not dry it on a radiator.
Store the bag in a way that maintains its shape (do not fold, do not crush with other products, etc.).
